The Automated Vehicles Act 2024 provides a comprehensive framework for the safe deployment and regulation of self-driving vehicles in Great Britain. The Department is currently focussed on implementation via secondary legislation and non-statutory guidance.

Whilst the Government keeps all transport legislation under review, any changes will be considered with respect to operational experience, technological developments and emerging evidence.
