The data matching of electors as part of the transition to Individual Electoral Registration took place in summer 2014 in England and Wales and following the referendum on independence in Scotland. In addition to sending the information to Honourable Members, the Commission published the number and percentage of electors matched within local authority areas on its website.

The Commission has more recently reported on how many of the entries on the May 2015 electoral registers do not relate to individually registered electors – those who were not data matched and have also not subsequently made an individual application to register. This data was also sent to Honourable Members and was published on the Commission’s website.
