Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what support the Government gives to fund research into Alzheimers disease and dementia.
Government funding for dementia research doubled over the last Parliament to around £60 million each year, and will be maintained at this level to total over £300 million in the period from 2015/16 to 2019/20.
The Government announced in the Spending Review that we would be spending up to £150 million on the United Kingdom’s first Dementia Research Institute. The Institute will cover the full spectrum of discovery science into age-related neurodegenerative diseases that have an element of dementias.
