As set out in the Government’s October 2025 announcement, we are working to consult on the outcome of the Airports National Policy Statement (ANPS) review by the summer.

Once the consultation is launched, we will write to the Liaison committee to commence the Parliamentary scrutiny process.

In line with the process for reviewing a National Policy Statement in the Planning Act 2008, the revised ANPS will be laid in Parliament following the consultation and parliamentary scrutiny process. Once the ANPS is laid in Parliament, there is a 21 sitting day consideration period, during which the House of Commons can resolve that a vote can be called on whether to approve the ANPS.
