Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will liaise with local authorities to create a generic application process for Blue Badges.

The Department for Transport issues non-statutory guidance to local authorities to help them administer the Blue Badge scheme, this includes a model application form. We recommend the use of this form but it is a matter for individual local authorities to choose an assessment approach which best supports their Blue Badge decision making process.

79% of all Blue Badge applications are made through the Blue Badge Digital Service (BBDS). The BBDS undertakes a programme of continuous improvement looking at ways to ensure the online application form is as user-friendly as possible for all applicants.
