Ministry of Defence: Subject Access Requests

(asked on 13th October 2026) - View Source

Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, where a Ministry of Defence body receiving a subject access request has reason to believe that responsive personal data is held in a system owned or managed by another part of the Department, which body is responsible for coordinating or referring the search; whether the requester must submit a separate request; and whether non-ownership of the system may, without more, constitute a reason not to search for or identify the data.

Given that one of the hon. Member's constituents currently has ongoing legal proceedings against the Department regarding these matters, it would be inappropriate to provide a response to these questions at this time.
