In the vast majority of cases, the Department has all the information it needs to complete the reassessment. The Department has made clear via gov.uk, that people do not need to take any action and that we will contact them if any further information is required to complete their reassessment.

Agreed messaging is in place for people who contact the Carer’s Allowance Unit while awaiting reassessment. Where additional support is required, processes are in place to ensure customers receive appropriate help and that relevant information can be captured and considered.

The Department keeps its communications under review and remains committed to supporting customers while their cases are under consideration.
