Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, (a) how many prisoners were released as part of the early release scheme on 1 October 2026, (b) how many of these prisoners were fitted with a tag prior to their release and (c) how many of these prisoners have been fitted with a tag to date.

The Ministry of Justice routinely publishes Official Statistics on electronic monitoring and on prisoner releases, as part of the Electronic Monitoring Statistics Quarterly and Offender Management Statistics Quarterly publications. The requested information forms a subset of the data underpinning total release statistics and monitoring statistics intended for future publication and, therefore, cannot be disclosed.
