Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the press release of 26 August 2026 entitled World-first crackdown to restrict offenders’ freedom and give it back to victims, how many people are subject to a restriction zone in England and Wales.

The Ministry of Justice routinely publishes Official Statistics on electronic monitoring and on prisoner releases, as part of the Electronic Monitoring Statistics Quarterly and Offender Management Statistics Quarterly publications.

The requested information forms a subset of the data underpinning total release statistics and monitoring statistics intended for future publication and, therefore, cannot be disclosed.
