Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps she is taking to increase the number of people willing to foster children in care.

The government is committed to looking at the foster care system through the National Fostering Stocktake. This is now underway and will be taking a wholesale look at the challenges and issues facing the foster care system in England.

Part of this review will look at the recruitment and retention of foster carers, ensuring that we have the right foster carers in the right places and exploring how we can ensure foster carers have the support and skills they need to meet the needs of the children in their care.
