Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps he is taking with zoos to enhance public education on (a) biodiversity conservation and (b) wildlife protection.
Under the Zoo Licensing Act 1981, all licensed zoos in Great Britain must promote public education and awareness in relation to the conservation of biodiversity, in particular by providing information about the species of wild animals kept in the zoo and their natural habitats.
