Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, whether her Department will consider introducing a post-installation inspection and accreditation scheme for existing solar photovoltaic systems, enabling competent installers to assess and certify installations without automatically assuming liability for work previously undertaken by other installers.

The Department does not plan to introduce a scheme for post-installation inspection and accreditation. MCS certification provides assurance across the full design, installation and commissioning process. Post-installation inspection alone cannot demonstrate that all applicable requirements were met, and MCS therefore does not permit retrospective certification.
