The UK Government is committed to maintaining a consistent classification labelling and packaging (CLP) regime across the UK through the incorporation of relevant EU CLP requirements into GB CLP. This reflects the commitment made in 2025 by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to avoid new regulatory barriers emerging between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

Subject to consultation, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will make legislative changes to deliver that commitment. Officials and industry representatives engage regularly on the development and implementation of proposals to support regulatory alignment and maintain consistency across the UK.
