Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the scope is of Project Shackleton; and on what date it began.

The Ministry of Defence is working at pace to conduct technical, commercial and delivery analysis to inform decisions on the potential replacement of HMS Protector with a more modern vessel. This work is considering the preferred procurement approach and replacement timeline. Project Shackleton is the working title used for this activity, which began in July 2026.
