Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether his Department has considered the merits of increased judicial punishment for people involved in the selling of illegal tobacco products.

I refer the Member to the answer given to Question 92805 on 27 November 2025, which sets out HMRC’s approach to tackling illicit tobacco.

Sentencing in individual cases is a matter for the independent courts.
