Sexual misconduct has no place in higher education (HE), and every student should feel safe.

Since August 2025, HE providers have been required to comply with the Office for Students’ (OfS) registration condition on harassment and sexual misconduct, including having comprehensive policies and arrangements to prevent and respond to incidents.

The OfS conducted its first national sexual misconduct prevalence survey in 2025 and will repeat it in 2027. It intends to publish institution-level data to increase transparency and strengthen the evidence base.
