The systems built by the National Health Service are designed to limit and prevent access to personally identifiable data. They are secured to standards set by NHS Digital with input from the National Cyber Security Centre, who have worked closely with the NHS COVID-19 app from the outset to ensure the best security standards and oversight.

The app will comply with the law around the use of data, including the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
