The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the national body responsible for issuing best practice guidance for the National Health Service in England. NICE has published a clinical guideline on lipid modification: cardiovascular risk assessment and the modification of blood lipids for the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, which makes recommendations on the effective use of statins.
