The UK is opposed to the death penalty in all circumstances. Following recent cases, we have made clear to the Egyptian Government at a senior level our serious concern about the use of the death penalty. Government's international obligations and commitments, including on human rights, are always of paramount importance when it makes decisions on its trading relations.
