The Mental Health of Children and Young People survey series provides data on trends in child mental health. Major surveys were carried out in 1999, 2004 and 2017. In response to COVID-19, the Department commissioned follow-up waves in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 to better understand the impact the pandemic has had on children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

The Adult Psychiatry Morbidity Survey provides data on the prevalence of adult mental health conditions in the England adult population. Previous surveys were conducted in 1993, 2000, 2007 and the latest published one is 2014. Fieldwork for the next survey is underway, with reporting scheduled for 2025.
