Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what progress his Department has made on spending £9.2 billion on energy efficiency measures over the course of the 2019 Parliament.
We have so far invested over £2.5bn to support both low-income households and public sector organisations to install energy efficiency measures, while also expanding the Energy Company Obligation to £1bn per year. This is significantly above the £1.28bn originally included in the 2019 manifesto covering the first two years of this Parliament.
The investment made by this government has resulted in considerable wider economic benefits. For example, our support for low-income households alone is estimated to support over 25,000 jobs and save households an average of £350-450 per year on their energy bills.
Further spending decisions will be made at the upcoming Comprehensive Spending Review.
