Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what discussions she has had with authorities in Myanmar on the arrest of the UK's former ambassador to Myanmar, Vicky Bowman; and what support her Department has offered Vicky Bowman.

We are supporting Ms Bowman through our consular channels. Officials at the British Embassy in Yangon have been in contact with the local authorities to request urgent consular access in order to check on her welfare. We are monitoring Ms Bowman's situation closely and will continue to support her, and her family, until the case is resolved.
