Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many adults have take their own life while in inpatient mental health care in each year since 2010.

The National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness, commissioned by NHS England through the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership, publishes statistics on suicide by people in contact with mental health services. The latest report provides data between 2003 and 2013 and is available at the following link:
