Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if her Department will make an assessment of the access that women and girls have to education in Gabon.

Gabon has adopted a series of reforms to increase gender equality, however the FCDO does not currently have plans to undertake an independent assessment of access to education for women and girls. Instead, we rely on partner organisations for their assessment and expertise. This includes the Commonwealth Secretary General who produced a report in May 2022 during Gabon's Commonwealth membership application, which included an assessment of girls' education in Gabon.
