Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether he has made an assessment of the potential merits of including the loss of smell and taste as a potential symptom of covid-19 on the NHS covid-19 website.

Following the United Kingdom Chief Medical Officers’ statement on 18 May 2020 advising that a loss or changed sense of normal smell or taste (anosmia) can be a symptom of COVID-19, the National Health Service website has been updated to reflect this.
