Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what support her Department provides for people who may lose their (a) jobs and (b) housing due to delays exceeding six months for the renewal of Leave to Remain visas.

Under section 3C of the Immigration Act 1971, a person whose application for further leave is outstanding when their existing leave expires will have that leave extended until the application is either decided or withdrawn. Any conditions attached to the original leave will continue. No one should lose their job or their housing simply because of a delay in renewing their visa.
