Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, whether he plans to build a greater proportion of social and affordable housing.
The £11.5bn investment in affordable homes through the 2012 - 26 Affordable Homes Programme is the largest single funding commitment to affordable housing in a decade and will increase the supply of new build affordable housing. While the new programme will deliver fewer homes than its predecessor, we are committed to delivering more homes for social rent, which takes more funding to provide given the larger subsidy required compared to other tenures of affordable homes. It is also supporting the delivery of the new Shared Ownership model, which incurs higher costs than the previous model.
