Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of implementing the measures in the Nautilus Charter for Jobs; and if he will review his Department's policies on training and education for UK seafarers in response to that charter.

The Maritime Growth Study published in September 2015 identified the need for a skilled workforce to support the future growth of the UK maritime sector. The government accepted all the recommendations and work is underway to implement them. The 10 point charter presented by Nautilus provides a valuable contribution as we collectively look to explore ways to deliver across the maritime skills and training agenda.
