Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how many apprenticeships have been created in his Department in each region in each of the last five years; and how many participants in those apprenticeships subsequently secured a job within the Civil Service.

The data shows apprenticeships offered to newly recruited staff for the former Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the former Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) which merged to form the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on 14 July 2016.

The apprentices recruited to former BIS in 2014 and 2015 were all recruited as part of the fast track apprenticeship scheme, in to permanent Civil Service posts.

6 of the apprentices recruited to former DECC in 2015 were recruited as part of the fast track apprenticeship scheme, in to permanent Civil Service posts.
