The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities is addressing the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including through smoking cessation and supporting local government to modernise the preventative NHS Health Check. The Department is working with NHS England to improve the detection, monitoring and treatment of atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
