Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent estimate she has made of the average cost to the public purse of training a teacher.

Based on the National Audit Office Report on “Training New Teachers”, it cost £700 million to train 33,200 trainees in 2013/14. This report is found at:
