The UK is committed to encouraging and contributing to international action to address the problem of deforestation in the Amazon region. Through our international network we support and regularly advocate for international cooperation on deforestation both bilaterally and through multilateral institutions such as the UN and the World Bank. Together with international partners, we have pledged to mobilise US $5 billion between 2015 and 2020 to help reduce deforestation and promote sustainable land use in the world's tropical forest basins, including the Amazon. We are also working with China, European partners, and the private sector to increase the incentives for a shift in farming that addresses deforestation.
