Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, if the Government will bring forward legislative proposals to enable the establishment of combined authorities which have the power for extending their functions beyond those initially authorised; and if he will make a statement.

When enacting the Cities and Local Government Act 2016, Parliament agreed the process for conferring powers on a combined authority, including conferring powers on an established combined authority, and there are no plans to seek any change to this.
