Ensuring that all our youth establishments perform to a high level, and provide a good environment, enabling children and young people to turn their backs on crime, is a high priority. All establishments are subject to external inspection. The Youth Custody Service oversees the performance of its establishments via its Performance Framework. The Framework outlines how performance will be monitored and managed, how concerns should be reported, and the support available to resolve concerns. The aim is to address any issues as they arise. Improving performance is a continuing operational function. Following any inspection there is clear timescale within which establishments are required to improve.
