Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, whether her Department plans to protect funding under the pupil premium scheme.

We are committed to making this is a truly meritocratic country where everyone has a fair chance to go as far as their talent and hard work will take them. The pupil premium is currently worth £2.5 billion a year and we will continue to protect it to support those who need it. We will work with schools to make effective use of the funding, including through the work of the Education Endowment Foundation.
