Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, whether he has made an assessment of the potential implications for his policies of the report by CARE International UK entitled Turning promises into progress - how the UK can realise the potential of gender-just climate action, published in November 2023.
The UK's recently published International Development White Paper recognises the crucial role women and girls play in climate and nature action and the importance of partnering with women's rights organisations across our work. In addition, the FCDO's International Women and Girls Strategy includes a commitment to increase the portion of our International Climate Finance that promotes gender equality and women's rights. At COP28, the UK endorsed the Gender-Responsive Just Transitions Partnership Pledge and also joined a Champions Group on Grassroots Gender-Just Climate Finance.
