Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that GP surgeries are reimbursed for the training of GPs.

The Health Education England (HEE) mandate includes an objective for HEE to work with stakeholders including the Department to develop tariffs for primary care medical education and training, which better reflect the costs and benefits to employers of having trainees.

Any proposed national tariffs for primary care would need to be affordable within HEE’s annual funding settlement.
