Animals: Advertising

Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how many inappropriate advertisements for animals were removed from websites as a result of work with the Pet Advertising Advisory Group and other bodies in each year since 2009-10.

Defra does not keep records of the number of inappropriate advertisements for pet animals removed from websites. In 2014 the Pet Advertising Advisory Group ran a pilot exercise covering the UK over 12 months which resulted in around 130,000 inappropriate adverts being removed from websites.
