The Environment Agency has undertaken detailed flood risk analysis for the West Midlands. Flood risk information is available under ‘check flood risk’ on the gov.uk website. This information includes specific climate change forecasts for each catchment. There are nearly 30,000 properties at risk of flooding from rivers across the West Midlands with many of these rivers being culverted or underground in cities. Surface water flooding is also a significant challenge in urban areas.
