Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how much (a) in cash terms, (b) in real terms and (c) as a percentage of the total NHS budget was spent on NHS staff training and education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in each year since 2000.

The following table shows National Health Service spend on training and education for undergraduate and postgraduate levels from 2007/08 to 2013/14 compared with total Department of Health (DH) expenditure. Comparable financial information relating to spend and expenditure prior to 2007/08 is not held centrally.
