Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether he plans to include measures on spaceports in the Modern Transport Bill; and if he will make a statement.

The Government is working on measures for inclusion in the Modern Transport Bill that will create the legal basis for the licensing of spaceports and the conducting of commercial spaceflight operations in the UK. This will help to grow our national, space-related economy, and bring benefits to local industries involved in spaceport activity, such as construction and tourism – supporting this Government’s strategy for delivering jobs and economic growth to every community and corner of the country.
