Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what recent discussions she has had with the French government on the welfare of unaccompanied minors living in the vicinity of the demolished refugee camp in Calais.
The protection of migrants in France remains the responsibility of the French Government. We are continuing to work closely with the French authorities to identify unaccompanied asylum seeking children who are eligible to come to the UK. The French Government has confirmed that all unaccompanied children present in the camp in Calais have been moved to specialist facilities across France. Specialist Home Office staff are attending these centres, along with social workers and interpreters, to make sure those children who may be eligible continue to be assessed and can be transferred as quickly as possible to the UK.
