The £20 million to be made available through the National Productivity Investment Fund will be designed to leverage private sector investment to help develop and commercialise alternative fuels which can reduce the carbon impact of aviation and heavy goods vehicles and capitalise on the industrial opportunities for growth and jobs.

More details will be provided in due course. We will consult shortly on proposals for amendments to the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations Order including supporting the use of alternative fuels in aviation and heavy goods vehicles. We will also shortly publish our review of options to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the road freight sector.
