Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many people have moved into work from receiving out-of-work benefits in each of the last five years; and how many such people have moved into work with a salary above 60 per cent of median household income in each of those years by year.

The Department for Work and Pensions does not hold sufficiently reliable data on claimant flows into work to answer this question. Benefit claimants are not required to report their destination to Jobcentre Plus when they stop claiming benefit. However, as we roll out Universal Credit, we expect to be able to use Real Time Information (RTI) to track claimant earnings.
