Question to the Department for International Development:

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what discussions she has had with Ministerial colleagues on re-establishing the position of Ministerial Champion for Tackling Violence against Women and Girls Overseas.

As Secretary of State for International Development, I champion this issue every day as part of my broader plan to improve the prospects of women and girls overseas. I am proud of the impact my department has achieved in tackling violence against women and girls, not least through the 2014 Girl Summit which focussed on eradicating Female Genital Mutilation and Early and Forced Child Marriage.
