Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, which parts of the East-West Growth Corridor railway lines will be electrified; and what the total cost to the public purse will be of that electrification.

During the construction of the line between Oxford to Bedford, any new structures (e.g. bridges) will be built to accommodate future electrification, should this be progressed in the future. With regard to the section from Bedford to Cambridge, this is in a very early stage of development and it has yet to be decided if this section will be electrified on opening.
