The National Planning Policy Framework asks local authorities to meet as much of their objectively assessed need for market and affordable housing as possible. Our planning guidance contains advice on how to calculate such need. Section 106 planning obligations are usually used to secure levels of affordable housing, but the actual level will depend on a site-by-site basis having regard to Local Plan policies and the overall viability of the scheme.
