Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what assessment he has made of the effect on the provision of residential development of the Vacant Building Credit; and if he will make a statement.
The Vacant Building Credit aims to promote housing development on brownfield sites, by allowing developers to offset the vacant building's floorspace that was due to be redeveloped for residential use against Section 106 affordable housing requirements.
We carried out a public consultation on these changes in March 2014 and as a result amended proposals to include buildings demolished for new development.
