Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate his Department has made of the number of (a) regional, (b) local and (c) general aviation airports that have been operating in the UK in each of the last 20 years; and if he will make a statement.

The Department does not hold data on the number of (a) regional, (b) local or (c) general aviation airports operating in the UK.

The table below however shows the overall number of airports operating in the UK and reporting aircraft movements to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for each of the last 20 years:
