In November 2015, there were 22,500 full-time equivalent teachers without Qualified Teacher Status employed by state funded schools in England. This is the latest information available.

This information is published in Table 3a of the ‘School Workforce in England: November 2015’ statistical release available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/school-workforce-in-england-november-2015

Those without Qualified Teacher Status includes employment-based trainees on, for example, School Direct (Salaried) and Teach First. The total number of teachers without Qualified Teacher Status represents 4.9% of all full-time equivalent teachers employed by state funded schools in England.
